We did reciprocal reading on two PDFs called What we ate and what we invested.
First, we did the six roles of reciprocal reading. They are: leader, predictor, clarifier, questioner and summariser. The PDF we read about was what the soldiers ate during WW1.
The most helpful role was the clarifier because it helped us unpack a load lots of information during the text.
Next, we read another PDF about what we invested. This text was about the money and how they lived. During WW1, Britain needed food. So they purchased NZ’s entire exportable supply of beef, mutton, lamb, cheese, butter, wool, condensed milk, dried milk, sheep and calf skins. This costed them 96 million pounds.
The most helpful role was the questioner because it unpacked lots of questions that we couldn't understand during the text.
Next time, I should find more interesting words.
