The Legend of Rahi and Ho'omau

There are many differences from my culture (Samoan culture) and the Maori culture. These two culture's came up with a video that is a legend and they are called Ho'omau, Samoan Culture, and The Legend of Rahi, Maori culture.

The differences from the Ho'omau Legend are about:
  • A boy waited with his father who was fighting with other Polynesian people.
  • The father was a very bad man.
  • The father set a village on fire.
  • The father tried to threatened a teen girl in a cave.
The differences from The Legend of Rahi are about:
  • Rahi and his men tracked Te Puhuru.

  • He had a beautiful wife and lived in a beautiful valley amongst their people.

  • Te Puhuru and his men kidnapped Rahi’s wife

  • Te Puhuru cast a spell to make the forest grow thick so none could pass

The similarities for the Ho'omau and The Legend of Rahi are:
  • Haka
    Weapons
    Outfits
    Loud
    Scary
    Waka’s
    Tattoos

The Samoan Legend, Ho'omau, is about this man who is cunning and evil and kills other Polynesians, and the Maori Legend, The Legend of Rahi, is about Rahi saving his wife from Te Puhuru.
