America's Cup 2021

I summarized and wrote down Main Ideas about the America's Cup. I found information and summarized, then evaluated it.

First, I wrote some Main Ideas for the Who, What, Where, and When. Main Ideas is looking for little bits of information in a text. I was reading a article and I found a piece of information: Longest sport trophy.

Next, I summarized the America's Cup. Summarizing is writing a brief statement. I wrote a brief statement: n 2021 the 36th race happened at the Auckland Harbour in New Zealand Team Emirates was defending their win from the  Luna Rossa Prada team.

Lastly, I evaluated the information in the Main Ideas and the Summarizing. Evaluating means gathering up the information.

I like these strategies because these two strategies helped me a lot to learn the Main Ideas of the America's cup and also the summarizing.

Prototec

I completed stage four on Prototec.

I completed equations, for example: Groupings with 10, 10 + 7 = 17.

I should get every single equation correct by reading the equations properly. Next time I should start on a harder level, stage 5 or 6.

L.I to become proficient in basic facts

The Highway Rat

A visualizing strategy is making a imaginative image in your head. This strategy can help people imagine a setting, and characters in their mind, and that becomes creativity or imagination.

This story was about The Highway Rat. The Highway Rat is a mean and greedy rat who steals food from travelers and all he wants is just junk food. His teeth is yellow and he is dressed like a pirate or Zorro. The Highway Rat now works at a cake shop sweeping the floor.

My visualization looked different to Fotu's visualization because I knew the story about The Highway Rat and Fotu didn't know about the story of The Highway Rat so he had to visualize and create an image in his mind.

AFL Training

We went on the field to learn from a AFL Coach named Andre. AFL stands for Australian Football League.

First, Coach Andre told us to do the two skills we practiced from two weeks ago. Hand ball is using my dominant hand for a fist and my non-dominant hand for a dinner plate.

Next, I practiced the tackling skill and the ruck skill. The tackling skill for AFL is aiming for the hips, if we strap around and aim for the head, that is a penalty or a high tackle, same goes for legs. The ruck skill is where the referee throws the ball in the air, and the two tall players out of the two teams has to try an hit first, kind of like basketball.

Lastly, I practiced the lower punt skill. A lower punt is kicking the ball and I had to make sure that my hand is shaped like a M on top of the ball. M stands for Macca's. I had to make sure that the ball was facing away from my face and that technique is called Laces to the faces. I also had to make sure that my foot was kicking the X on the ball, so the ball could go to the person I am aiming at.

I enjoyed doing these two skills with Coach Andre because the two new skills we practiced added on to my learning of AFL. I never got tagged in Octopus and I tried to use the techniques to bomb the teacher, but I failed.

Place Value and Saying Numbers

Place value is a system that groups numbers based on their size.

The position of a digit its value. When we say numbers we group them within the same house. For example 15709 has fifteen thousands, seven hundreds, and nine ones.

Understanding our base 10 place value system allows us to pronounce big numbers properly. It also allows us to identify numbers before and after.

Correct Uniform

I learnt about the correct uniform and the incorrect uniform. Uniform's represent's a group that you belong. For example: We never where other sports uniform because if you play with your regular uniform, then your uniform will get ripped.

First, I wrote some statements about the correct and incorrect uniform. For example: We wear appropriate shoes because it is formal. The incorrect way is: We never wear other shoes. For example wearing new red Nike shoes.

After, I added some images in to represent my statements.

I enjoyed this task because I wrote some good statement about my work and add a few images so it could represent my images.

The Legend of Rahi and Ho'omau

There are many differences from my culture (Samoan culture) and the Maori culture. These two culture's came up with a video that is a legend and they are called Ho'omau, Samoan Culture, and The Legend of Rahi, Maori culture.

The differences from the Ho'omau Legend are about:
  • A boy waited with his father who was fighting with other Polynesian people.
  • The father was a very bad man.
  • The father set a village on fire.
  • The father tried to threatened a teen girl in a cave.
The differences from The Legend of Rahi are about:
  • Rahi and his men tracked Te Puhuru.

  • He had a beautiful wife and lived in a beautiful valley amongst their people.

  • Te Puhuru and his men kidnapped Rahi’s wife

  • Te Puhuru cast a spell to make the forest grow thick so none could pass

The similarities for the Ho'omau and The Legend of Rahi are:
  • Haka
    Weapons
    Outfits
    Loud
    Scary
    Waka’s
    Tattoos

The Samoan Legend, Ho'omau, is about this man who is cunning and evil and kills other Polynesians, and the Maori Legend, The Legend of Rahi, is about Rahi saving his wife from Te Puhuru.

Mihi Whakatau

Mihi Whakatau is a Maori term for a formal greeting.

Mihi Whakatau is traditionally used for welcoming introductions and openings. It is undertaken by the Tangata Whenua (local inhabits).

The Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspeds to the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river), and Iwi (tribe) are generally used.

Introducing Ingoa (name), Oku Tipuna (ancestral place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.

Manuhiri is the term used to describe or group the visitors that are being welcomed.

It is important to end with warm visitors so the visitors know that there is no hostility in 2 groups being together.

Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit will ensure long lasting relationships and connections.

I enjoyed this task because Fotu started a comment and I replied, so that means it is a comment thread.

SSR Selfie | Adventure Time Righteous Rules for being Awsome

First, Mr Ogilvie introduced the 3 Ps in in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are protection, partnership, and participation Then in groups we wrote statements. LS1 figured out the 3 Ps are all connected.

After, that we used our group ideas and thought how they connected to me.

I chose these three statements because they will help me with my learning during the year. I need to improve to push in my chair in before I go anywhere else.

AFL Training

We went on the field to learn two new skills from a AFL Coach named Mike. AFL stands for Australian Football League.

First, Coach Mike taught us a skill and it was called, Hand ball. Hand ball is using my dominant hand for a fist and my non-dominant hand for a dinner plate.

Next, I did the lower punt skill.

Lastly, we played two games called Octopus and Bomb the teacher. Octopus is getting to one side, to the other without getting tagged with the rugby ball. Bomb the teacher is kicking the ball and trying to aim at the teacher's and coach.

Optical Illusion

Today I have made a Optical Illusion. An optical illusion can trick and in the illusion is something hidden that you can't see.

First, I picked an image from google so I could use that image as my optical illusion. The image was a duck and when you see it the opposite then it is a rabbit.

Next, I used basic shapes to make a duck. The shapes I have used was a Trapezoid and Ovals.

After, I copied and pasted my duck to make another duck. Then I rotated the second duck to 90 degrees and I changed the colours into the colours of a rabbit.

I enjoyed this task because I got to make another optical illusion and I figured out an optical illusion that I learnt from Sarah.
