Fractions

A fraction is a whole thing divided into equal pieces.

A half is a whole thing cut into two equal pieces. A third is a whole thing cut into three pieces. A quarter is a whole thing cut into four equal pieces.

Screenplays

Screenplays are written in speech and action. In screenplays there are four parts and they are speech, actions, and scenes.

Speech is important because the actors know what to learn and say.

Action is important because the actors know what to learn and act.

Scenes is important because the actors know what part they are in.

It is important to have a screenplay because so the actors know what to act in the movie and what to say.

Maori Names Rua

This week for Maori we translated Maori names of people. This task was the second version of Maori Names - Tahi.

First we had to read the Maori names and then translate them. 

Next when we were finished we had to look them up in the Maori Dictionary and see if they are correct.

I enjoyed Maori because I had to translate lots of names - they sound like the English name. 

Duffy Theatre - Bex meets Milly

We watched a performance by Duffy theatre group about the Coggen. A Coggen is a mythical creature that is a mixture of a cat, dog, and chicken.

Before the show, the actors introduced themselves. Then we sang the Duffy song.

Then the actors performed for us.

Lastly the Duffy group held a question and answer session.

I enjoyed this show because this was my first time at a Duffy Show.

Novel Study | Fantastic Mr Fox

Fantastic Mr Fox is about a fox who steals food from farms for him and his family to survive. These three chapters in this book was about Mr Fox and his family stuck in a hole for three days and three nights without any food or water. But then Mr Fox came up with a plan and they started digging to Farmer Boggis chicken house number one.

For three days and nights this game went on. Farmer Boggis asked "How long can a fox go without food or water?" Boggis asked on the thrid day.

"Not much longer." Bean told him. "He'll make a run for it soon.

He'll have to."

Bean was right. Down the hole the foxes were slowly but surely starving to death.

Mr Fox had not spoken for a long time. He had been sitting quite still, his eyes were closed, not even hearing what the others were saying. Mrs Fox knew he was deseprately to think of a way out. And now, as she looked at him, she saw stir himself and get slowly to his feet. He looked back at his wife and he screamed out "I HAVE A PLAN!" "We dig and dig and dig until we get to chicken house number one and then we steal chicken.

The farmers were still waiting for the fox to come out of the hole so they never left the hole until they have Mr Fox in his hands.

Maori

This week for Maori we did an activtiy called Maori Names. Maori Names was about translating Maori Names into English.

We had a list of English names to choose from and we could also search up the Maori names in the Maori Dictionary

Next we had to translate them in the right box. For example: Ripeka - Rebecca.

Afterwards we had to mark it.

I enjoyed Maori because I had to translate lots of names.
